A state parole agent was injured Wednesday afternoon while trying to capture a fugitive on the North Side.
Members of the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force were seeking Robert Weaver, 28, on a probation violation and spotted him in a vehicle about 2 p.m., said task force member and Supervisory Deputy Marshal Michael Baughman.
When they pulled him over near 27 Geranium St. he tried to restart his engine in an attempt to flee, but "task force officers swooped in on him and were able to take him into custody," Mr. Baughman said.
The state agent was hurt in the scuffle, but Mr. Baughman said his injuries were not believed to be severe.
Officers had been searching for Mr. Weaver since April, when he violated his probation, which he was serving for a 2001 weapons offense.
