Bristol Palin to wed Levi Johnston, but mother Sarah won't attend: Mel Gibson keeps talking trash
Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Everyone in Alaska is hoping for an invitation to Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston's August wedding to land on their doorstep, everyone, that is, except the state's most famous resident and mother of the bride, Sarah Palin, who will not be attending, Popeater.com reports.

"It's going to be the wedding of the century in Alaska. Our version of Princess Diana and Prince Charles' wedding,' a Palin family friend said. "Everyone would kill to get an invite even if it means having to buy them an expensive gift. It's just too bad that her mother has refused to attend. Although I can't say I blame her after everything that boy has put her through."

It is true that Levi has not always acted like the perfect future son-in-law toward Sarah and her family. But Sarah's refusal to go to her daughter's special day has even Levi shocked.

"Bristol is very upset about her mother's decision and hopes her dad, Todd, will be able to change her mind," a friend of Levi's told Popeater.com. "It's not like Bristol or Levi are asking for help paying for the wedding, they just want their family to attend. It would cost them nothing."

Although it surely appears Sarah isn't going to attend, Bristol's father will come through.

"With or without Sarah, Todd will be walking his daughter down the aisle," the friend says. "He has been looking forward to this day ever since Bristol was a little girl and wouldn't miss it for anything or anyone. Bristol has told her mom she doesn't even want a wedding present, just her mom to attend."

Another toxic audio tape featuring a mad Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva has been released by RadarOnline.com, and this time, she accuses the actor of hitting their baby daughter, Popeater.com reports.

The claim emerges during one of the former couple's explosive arguments that were recorded by Grigorieva and mysteriously leaked. "You hit me, and you hit her [Lucia] while she was in my hands!" she accuses in the tape. "Mel, you're losing your mind. You need medication."

Gibson, shocked by the child abuse claim, later tells her: "I want my child, and no one will believe you."

The "Braveheart" star unleashes his now-familiar roster of profanities at nearly every turn, including when the two were arguing about custody of 8-month-old daughter Lucia.

"You have my child, and she doesn't need a gold-digging, [expletive] Russian [expletive], whore for a mother! We all know what you are! I will have that child, easily."

She replies, "I'm sorry? You will not have this child," to which he boasts, "They won't let you keep her because they'll know what you are!"

Gibson also reprises his role of "racist guy" heard in an earlier tape when he yelps that she'll be raped by a "pack of [expletives]" for dressing provocatively and for her cosmetically altered figure.

"If you get raped it's your fault, for starters. Showing off your fake [breasts]! Like they're some special deal? How much did they cost, those fakers?" he asked.

According to Radar, the tapes are in the custody of law enforcement and will be part of Grigorieva's evidence against Gibson in their custody case. An investigation by the Department of Children and Family Services is also ongoing.

Patty Hewes lovers may be headed to satellite TV.

DirecTV has picked up the Glenn Close FX series "Damages" for two more seasons.

There had been rumors a few months ago that a pickup might be in the wind, it's still surprising given the low ratings for "Damages" on FX and the high cost to produce the series.

Unlike when DirecTV picked up "Friday Night Lights" with a deal for NBC to air the same episodes six months later, "Damages" is not slated to have a second window on a broadcast or basic cable network.

Close, Rose Byrne and other principal cast members will return for the new episodes. "Damages" recently received five Emmy nominations for its critically acclaimed third season, Close for Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Byrne for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Zeljko Ivanek for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Ted Danson for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series and Lily Tomlin for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

His publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ice-T has played Detective Fin Tutuola on the TV drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" since 2000.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed actress Geena Davis to a California commission established to promote women's equality, the Associated Press reports.

Schwarzenegger on Tuesday named the 54-year-old actress to the Commission on the Status of Women. The nonpartisan panel advocates for women and girls in areas such as education and access to health care.

Davis, a Democrat, has worked off screen to reduce gender stereotyping. She is the founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in the Media and is a partner with United Nations Development Fund for Women.

She won an Oscar in 1989 for her supporting role in "The Accidental Tourist" and was nominated for best actress in 1992 for "Thelma and Louise."

The appointment lasts four years and requires Senate confirmation. The 17 commissioners receive a $100 per diem.

nTony-winning actress Cherry Jones returns to Broadway in a revival of George Bernard Shaw's "Mrs. Warren's Profession," the Associated Press reports.

The controversial 19th-century family drama examines the tension between a mother and daughter after a family secret is revealed. It is regarded as one of Shaw's greatest plays.

Jones plays Kitty Warren, a woman forced to make terrible sacrifices for her family. Golden-Globe winner Sally Hawkins makes her Broadway debut as Kitty's daughter, Vivie.

Hawkins won a Golden Globe for her performance in the British film "Happy-Go-Lucky."

Jones won the Tony for her portrayal of Sister Aloysius in "Doubt." She also played President Taylor on the hit series "24," for which she won an Emmy.

The Roundabout Theater Company production begins previews Sept. 3, with opening night set for Oct. 3.
