The Pittsburgh Film Office hosts Oscar party
Tuesday, March 09, 2010

The Pittsburgh Film Office celebrated a double anniversary -- 20 years and 10 Lights! Glamour! Action! Oscar parties -- at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture. President Dawn Keezer couldn't make it but her cardboard cutout made the rounds, occasionally wandering onto the red carpet lined with impersonators and paparazzi. The radio morning show team of 100.7, Bubba, Shelley and Chuck the Movie Guy, added to the hubbub at the entrance, interviewing the 400 VIPS.

Guests at the VIP reception enjoyed an endless supply of Moet & Chandon, an Oscars favorite. The silent auction featured signed entertainment memorabilia including a guitar autographed by Taylor Swift. Among those welcomed by chair of the PFO Russ Streiner in the theater before the 82nd Academy Award show were Lucas and Renee Piatt, Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, Eddie Edwards Jr., Nadine Bognar, PFO assistant director Jessica Conner, Marsetta and Rich Schweiger, Mary McVay with Tim, Joe Smith, Merrill Stabile, Rebecca Whitlinger, Patty Iannotta and Indianapolis Colts' kicker Pat McAfee (a native of Plum).

Mackenzie Carpenter's video program, "Omnivore," is available exclusively at PG+, a members-only web site of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Our introduction to PG+ gives you all the details.
