Mercer County authorities have identified a man who was seriously injured in a fireworks accident Saturday.

Vincent Fustos, 45, of 4835 Anne Lane, in Hermitage, was "severely injured," according to police.

A news release indicates that Mr. Fustos was in the basement of his home "making a firework with gun powder" when an explosion occurred.

He was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC-Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. No condition report was available but his burns were serious, police said.

Mr. Fustos' home also was severely damaged, police said, though no dollar estimate of the loss was available.
