Man wanted in federal drug case surrenders
Tuesday, December 02, 2008

A man who's been hiding from law enforcement since wide-ranging raids on Nov. 19 has turned himself in.

Gino Riccelli, one of 35 defendants indicted in a large-scale drug crackdown, will have a detention hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy Bissoon on Friday morning.

Mr. Riccelli is charged in three of the 27 counts in the federal indictment, including conspiracy to distribute cocaine and two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

During the serving of simultaneous arrest warrants Nov. 19, FBI Special Agent Samuel Hicks was killed just after 6 a.m. while attempting to take Robert Ralph Korbe into custody at his Indiana Township home.

Agent Hicks was the first person through the door. He was struck by a bullet, which was fired by Mr. Korbe's wife, Christina. She claims that she believed her home was being broken into and that she fired the shot without looking from upstairs. There were two children home at the time.

Mrs. Korbe has been charged in state court with one count of criminal homicide.
