Paterno heads straight to coaches box prior to game
Saturday, October 11, 2008

MADISON, Wis. --- Joe Paterno returned to the coaches' box tonight when No. 6 Penn State tackled Wisconsin.

Paterno, two months shy of his 82nd birthday, entered Camp Randall Stadium with aid of a cane and went immediately to the locker room.

He did not participate in the Nittany Lions' pregame drills, but made his way to the coaches' box prior to the start of the game.

A sore right leg and hip have slowed Paterno. He was injured while trying an onside kick three days before the Aug. 30 season opener against Coastal Carolina.

He also worked last week's game at Purdue from the coaches' box and spent the second half of the Temple game there last month at Beaver Stadium.
