Police in the North Hills on Saturday arrested six people for drunken driving at a sobriety checkpoint in Pine.
Two others were arrested on different charges -- one for possession of drug paraphernalia and the other for endangering the welfare of children.
The North Hills DUI Task Force and the Northern Regional Police Department staged the check point at Ace Hardware on Perry Highway from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Sixteen drivers took sobriety tests, and 680 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.
