Pitt point guard Levance Fields had successful bone graft surgery last weekend to stabilize the foot he injured last season.
Fields is expected to rehabilitate for eight weeks and he is expected to play in Pitt's season opener in early November.
Fields suffered a fracture of a bone in his left foot in a Dec. 29 game at the University of Dayton. He missed seven weeks but came back to lead Pitt to a Big East championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
Pitt's first practice is Oct. 17. Their first game is in the second week of November.
