A 16-year-old girl was shot yesterday afternoon near Cornell Middle School in McKeesport, Allegheny County dispatchers said.

The shooting happened about 4:15 p.m., but police could not be reached for details. Dispatchers said the girl was shot in the leg as she walked near Cornell and Spring streets.

She was transported to Children's Hospital for treatment. Her condition was unknown.
