Wednesday, August 27, 2008

An intruder beat and bound a worker at a personal care home in Fayette County Monday before forcing the victim to open medicine cabinets from which he stole prescription drugs, state police said.

The 57-year-old nurse assistant was doing laundry and cooking on the overnight shift at Jo Ella's Personal Care and Respite Center in Dunbar when the suspect forced his way through a locked side door around 1 a.m.

He was described as a white man 20 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 11 inches with a thin build and brown hair. He wore a ski mask, black shirt and pants, and boots, police said.

A second suspect was not identified by the victim, police said.

The woman was working alone when the intruder shot her with a stun gun. He threw her into a wall, then slapped, punched and kicked her.

Her wrists were bound with a cable, and she was forced to open the medicine cabinet containing prescription drugs of the clients.

The victim was taken to Uniontown Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

Anyone with information was asked to call state police at 724-439-7111.
