Restaurant-owner John Muth, who spent the past seven years at the Cafe at the Frick, is opening the doors of Mirabelle in Oakmont tonight. With chef Patrick MacFarlane and pastry chef Rebecca O'Hara, Muth plans to showcase local seasonal ingredients through unique interpretations of traditional dishes, going so far as to bake bread using organic flour milled in Saxonburg and make fresh pasta with eggs from Westmoreland County. The restaurant, at 215 Allegheny Ave., will be open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday; it is nonsmoking and wheelchair accessible. Morton's The Steakhouse is holding a bourbon tasting and seminar at 6 p.m. Aug. 29.
