ART

Bethel Park -- The Schoolhouse Arts Center, 2600 South Park Road, is host to a photography exhibit by local photographers Richard March and Carmen DiGiacomo in the gallery through Sept. 19. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Classes for tole, watercolor and oil painting, stained glass and more will start next month. For more, call 412-835-9898.

DINING OUT

Brentwood -- St. Sylvester Church, Brownsville Road, will hold a spaghetti dinner from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the church hall. Dinner will be cooked and served by teachers, administrators and student council. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for youths younger than 10. Dinner includes salad, bread and beverage.

FESTIVALS

Brentwood -- St. Sylvester Church will hold its parish festival from 7 to 11 p.m. Sunday through Aug. 30, in the school gym, East Willock Road, with rides, a bake sale, flea market, petting zoo on Tuesday and Thursday only, bingo, fried ice cream and more.

FUNDRAISERS

Homestead -- LifeSpan, a senior citizens social agency, will be host to its eighth annual $1,500 Shopping Spree and dinner mystery theater from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 at Dave and Buster's at The Waterfront. Mystery's Most Wanted will perform "I Loathe Lucy," an interactive spoof of the "I Love Lucy" television show. The winning tickets, for $500 and $1,000 sprees, will be drawn that night. Winner need not be present. Dinner reservation deadline is Sept. 10. Dinner ticket cost is $50 per person; corporate tables of six are available. Raffle tickets are $5 each. Peters -- Center Chautauqua, an educational program at Center Presbyterian Church, 255 Center Church Road, instituted to raise money for renovations and provide fellowship, will offer the following fall courses at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary:

• Sept. 2: The Challenge of Afghanistan, presented by Col. Lew Irwin, U.S. Army Reserve.

• Sept. 9: Are You a Poet and Don't Know It?, presented by Carla Hayes, teacher and poet.

• Sept. 17: Wii System 9-Hole Golf Challenge, presented by the Mii's of Center Church.

Jefferson Hills -- West Jefferson Hills Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Hills Library, 925 Old Clairton Road, to discuss historical post cards.

Castle Shannon -- Community Library of Castle Shannon will be host to Wet Your Whistle Wednesdays book club meetings from 4 to 5 p.m. on the first or third Wednesday of every month, depending on grade level, starting Sept. 3. VOLUNTEERS

Bethel Park -- The American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter and one of its sponsored programs, the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, are among a group of approximately 20 nonprofit organizations that will participate in a Volunteer Speed Matching event from 5 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at Bethel Park Public Library, 5100 W. Library Ave. Patterned on the concept of "speed dating," the goal is to pair as many individuals as possible with the right organization by providing information on an array of nonprofits in a short amount of time.
