Wednesday, August 20, 2008

A Pittsburgh Public Schools police officer and a civilian were injured yesterday when the vehicles they were operating collided on the North Side.

School police Chief Robert Fadzen said Officer Gerald Singleton suffered non-life-threatening back, head and neck injuries and was treated at Allegheny General Hospital.

The other driver, whose name was not available, was treated at AGH for a facial laceration and a contusion.

Chief Fadzen said the accident occurred about 10:15 a.m. as Officer Singleton, driving a school police van, tried to make a left from Ridge Avenue onto Arch Street in front of the car that was traveling in the opposite direction.
