Worker remains in hospital after electrical accident
Saturday, July 19, 2008

A construction worker remained in critical condition yesterday in UPMC Mercy after an accident that electrocuted two co-workers at a Murrysville home.

A 7,200-volt power line came into contact with scaffolding the men were erecting at a home on Old William Penn Highway at McCoy Avenue on Thursday morning.

Borough police yesterday identified the survivor as Scott Basch, 49, of Monroeville.

Mr. Basch was working at with James Bolen, 52, of Jeannette, and William McNemar, 50, of Turtle Creek, when the metal pole they were handling touched the power line.

Mr. Basch was being treated in the Birmingham Trauma and Burn Center at Mercy, a hospital spokeswoman said.
